Rooftimers!

Simply incredible! Even with those rather grueling temperatures this last weekend, we still managed to draw 61 doubles teams on Saturday, 45 doubles teams on Sunday along with 16 Quads teams for a total of 276 players (just shy of our record of 278 set in 2006). However, more importantly, we collected a record-breaking $8127 for the homeless shelter. Once again, THE BUCKET (the voluntary offering from the pick-up games during the summer), which contributed $234.50, pushed us over a significant milestone. Most impressive. Thanks! Xie-xie! Kiitos! Merci! Danke! Grazie! Arigato! Kamsamnida! Спасибо! Gracias! Bedankt! Bocsánat ! Hvala! Shukran! Obrigado! Danki!

Before we get to the "thank you" section, just a few other items.  First of all, we ran out of t-shirts on Sunday and not everyone who wanted one was able to buy one.  In a day or two, we will have a picture of the shirt out on our web-page, and if you would like a shirt, just let me know the size (we only have regular t-shirts; no sleeveless or tanks this year), and assuming we get enough to justify the extra printing, we'll make arrangements for the exchange.

Also, there are a few items in the "lost and found".  In the found category, we have one unclaimed yellow and white ball along with one white ball with the markings LC.  In the lost column, someone is missing a white leather ball with an extremely faint 'MISHA' on one of the panels.

As usual, there are tons of people to thank.  First of all, to all the players who travel from both near and far, thanks for participating in this event and for being so understanding, patient and tolerant.  We only run one tournament a year, and you would think that after 16 years, we would know what we are doing by now.  However, with the change to rally scoring and other little, unique challenges that pop up each year, we seem to encounter new difficulties each season.  Along those lines, if you have suggestions on how to improvement the tournament, please let me know.  We are particularly interested in feedback on the move to rally scoring.

This year, we also need to express extreme gratitude to Jim Huenniger.  Even though he couldn't play this year and had every intention of simply mastering the beer bracket, he arrived early both days to provide the registration sheets.  In addition, he created many of pools each day, took all the pictures of the various winners,  created the play-off schedules for the multi-net pools, handed out all the prizes and fielded many of the questions and queries directed to the tournament director.  Without his assistance, we would still be on the field!
