What a weekend! With the fantastic weather, great players, terrific sponsors and many generous donations, we had a record breaking success! Over the two days (with 40 teams of doubles on Saturday, 30 teams of doubles on Sunday and 14 teams of 4s on Sunday for a total of 196 players), we managed to raise $6329 for the Dutchess County Coalition for the Homeless. Not too shabby for a bunch of volleyball geeks!

As always, there are tons of people to thank. First of all, to all the players. Without youse guys (yes, I am originally from Brooklyn), there would be no tournament. Even though this is "just a charity tournament" and I know that our prizes don't compare with the other local tournaments, I am always impressed by how many people come out to play (and from what distances they travel) for the cause. Not only do we get competitors from outside the county, but people travel from Connecticut, Massachusetts, Texas and Colorado. Amazing.

And this was the smoothest tournament for us to run. After the play-offs for a given net wrapped up, the winners and losers didn't ask for the prizes; they started breaking down the net and picking up the garbage. For all the hard work (both on and off the court), we are extremely grateful. Thanks!
