The tournament was a fantastic success - We raised over $5500 for the homeless shelter! The best yet in the 6 year history of RoofTime!

We played men's and women's doubles on Saturday and introduced a new division called "Juniors" for local high school players. On Sunday, we played co-ed doubles and had a tournament-first THREE divisions of quads ("Killer", "Skilled", "Recreational"). The tournament had over 103 teams and 250 total people. Players came from all over the NY/NJ/CT tri-state area, and we also had some return appearances by some our friends from Austin, Texas!

This year, from the registration fees, T-shirt sales (and next year we will DEFINITELY have the really cool muscle shirts again!), food booth and a very generous donation from one of the players, we raised (drum roll, please): $5,417. Factoring in the proceeds from some corporate donations, we topped $5,500. Not too shabby for a bunch of volleyball geeks!

Of course, we could not have done this without the help of many, many people. First of all, I would like to thank all the players who participated in this year's event. (In case you were wondering, we had 250 players in 103 teams.) Without you, there would not be any tournament! Every year, I am amazed by the spirit of all the competitors. Even though this is "only a charity tournament" (and I realize that our prizes are not on par with the other tournaments in the area), everyone still plays with just as much enthusiasm and determination. Most impressive!
